Mission Statement: The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International promotes professional and personal growth of women educators and excellence in education.
Judith M. Strohmeyer
Judy was born in Illinois on June 21, 1943.
She grew up in Chicago and attended schools
in the Midwest. Her teaching career included
teaching in Chicago as a Special Education
Specialist. She also taught in Alaska and
continued her teaching career after retiring
and moving to Arizona in the Marana district.
Judy loved to travel and did so extensively. Because of her deep and abiding respect for animals, she worked with the Humane Society and other rescue groups. She always had dogs and other animals around. Her activities, volunteer duties and large circle of friends also kept her busy.
She worked with numerous groups; the Oro Valley Police as a volunteer; did extensive work for the Tucson Symphony Women’s Association; and reserved a special place in her heart for Delta Kappa Gamma. She held several offices within Delta Kappa Gamma which included: serving as president of Mu chapter for two biennium, being instrumental in getting the Creative Arts Retreat started in 2000, serving Omicron as committee chairman, First and Second Vice-President and State President (2009-2011). She was passionate about making a difference in education worldwide. Judy took the Costa Rican members who attended international events under her wing and supported them in many ways. She will be remembered as a creative, giving and caring person.
Judy passed away on September 6, 2011, after a short battle with cancer. She is survived by her brother, Jay, a nephew, Joseph, and a niece, Cathy. No formal services are planned. She will be buried in the family plot in Chicago.
