LOCATION:  Our meetings are held in the city of Covina, Los Angeles County, California.

 

CHARTER: Our Charter was granted on December 11, 1993 with 26 members signing the Charter.

 

MEMBERS:  Currently there are 24 members, most of whom live in Covina, West Covina, or nearby areas of the San Gabriel Valley in Los Angeles County, California.

 

MEETINGSOur Chapter meetings are held monthly on the first Monday at 3:00 p.m. from September to May. The meetings take place in members’ homes and provide a wonderful atmosphere for friendly, caring, and supportive relationships.

PROJECTS: 
Educational grants: the money may be given to a classroom teacher, a student teacher, or a full-time student in the final year of teacher preparation.

Community Service: Donations of stuffed toys are given to the local police department. Officers give them to children in family crisis.


Members tutor adults and children in the literacy programs.

Sisterhood: Our members support fellow members in the Gamma Mu Chapter.

 

We share our joys and sorrows, and when a member needs help, we are there to assist!

THE SEVEN PURPOSES OF THE DELTA KAPPA GAMMA SOCIETY are:

1.      To unite women educators of the world in a genuine spiritual fellowship

2.      To honor women who have given or who evidence a potential for distinctive service in any field of education

3.      To advance the professional interest and position of women in education

4.      To initiate, endorse, and support desirable legislation or other suitable endeavors in the interests of education and of women educators

5.      To endow scholarships to aid outstanding women educators in pursuing graduate study and to grant fellowships to women educators from other countries

6.      To stimulate the personal and professional growth of members and to encourage their participation in appropriate programs of action

7.      To inform the members of current economic, social, political, and educational issues so that they may participate effectively in a world society.

THE MISSION STATEMENT OF THE DELTA KAPPA GAMMA SOCIETY is:  The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International and Alpha Mu Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International promote professional and personal growth of women educators and excellence in education.
