Saturday 28th April (Note change of plan)	Alpha Chapter	The First Grader An inspirational film telling of an 84 yr old Kenyan's fight for an education. (Google for trailer). Gamma found that after they had seen it they needed time for discussion, and so we will have a very brief meeting that day London South Bank University, Elephant and Castle. 1.50pm outside for a prompt 2.00pm start Before the meeting we have a visit to: Hay's Galleria & St Olave's House, Hay's Wharf, Tooley Street, London SE1. Meet at 11.00am at London Bridge Station, Tooley Street entrance. We will then walk down Tooley Street for a look at Hay's Wharf. It is now Hay's Galleria, an upmarket commercial and residential development. St Olave's House, an Art Deco gem completed in 1932, was once the headquarters of Hay's Wharf. Views of the Shard should be good.

8 October	Alpha Chapter	Who Were the Girton Pioneers? Hilary Goy A glimpse of the kind of student who decided to defy convention and enrol at the new 'College for Women'. It is a general talk with pithy bits! Venue: London South Bank University London Rd. (Near Elephant and Castle) 2pm. Walk along Bankside before the meeting. 10.30am, meet on the corner of Bedale Street and Borough High Street - We will walk by the Thames, past Southwark Cathedral, The Clink, The Globe, Christopher Wren's House and on to the Tate Modern for a 'quick' look at what's on.

Over 20 members from GB attended the conference which was a great success.		European Regional Director Kate York and the German members are looking forward very much to seeing as many of you as possible at The European Regional Conference 2011 in Baden-Baden/Steinbach, August 4 - 8. They are working hard to make it another interesting, informative, enjoyable event for participants from all nine European member countries as well as our most welcome friends / guests from overseas.
