A Brief Message from the President
Spring
is truly showing her face as the trees leaf, the flowers bloom, and the
sun warms our days and lifts our spirits! Our April meeting was
delightful in providing fellowship and fulfilling DKG purposes. The
Grant in Aid recipients inspired enthusiasm for future educators
and the Remembrance Ceremony honored our past. Your generosity in
offering
opportunities for young students was overwhelming. In the next few
months I encourage you to:
- Recommend a colleague for membership
- Join Mary, Sherrie and me at the Upsilon State Convention in West Des Moines June 13-14.
- Email me your suggestions for programs/meeting places for 2015-2016.
What are we doing with our Iota resources? In the past months we have:
- delivered gift bags to 98 first year teachers in Waterloo and Cedar Falls
- provided Habitat Book Shelves for 4 families, some with more than one shelf
- awarded two $500 Grants in Aid to future educators
- donated $100 to UNI Kaleidoscope program
- provided two scholarships for area elementary students to attend Arts and Adventures Camp
- sponsored three area elementary students to participate in UNI Camp MUSIC MANIA.
Next year we will seek more avenues to support educators and students in the pursuit of excellence in education.

Myanmar. She also played the cello in UNI's orchestra and was involved
with the campus ministry group, Navigators.
