Our Mission

The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International promotes professional and personal growth of women educators and excellence in education. 75th Anniversary CrestDKG

Our Purpose

  1. To unite women educators of the world in a genuine spiritual fellowship.
  2. To honor women who have given or who evidence a potential for distinctive service in any field of education.
  3. To advance the professional interest and position of women in education.
  4. To initiate, endorse and support desirable legislation or other suitable endeavors in the interests of education and of women educators.
  5. To endow scholarships to aid outstanding women educators in pursuing graduate study and to grant fellowships to women educators from other countries.
  6. To stimulate the personal and professional growth of members and to encourage their participation in appropriate programs of action.
  7. To inform the members of current economic, social, political, and educational issues so that they may participate effectively in a world society.

Chapter Projects:

2009-2010
1. The Hephzibah House, a half way house for women being released from prison.
     Members are collecting various items.
2. The Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Shelter.
     Members are collecting sample bottles of shampoo, mouth wash and lotions.
3. The Ronald McDonald Foundation
     Members are collecting soda can tabs.

Upsilon State Convention: June 11-13, 2010 in Waterloo, IA
International Convention: July 20-24, 2010 in Spokane, WA


Chapter History:

Our chapter was organized in Newton, Iowa on March 8, 1940 by the Upsilon State Membership chairperson Mrs. Nina Goltry. There were seventeen charter members from Jasper County. We currently have 44 members from these school districts in Jasper County: Baxter, Colfax/Mingo., Lynville/Sully, Newton, Prarie City/Monroe.
