Suggestions for State Committees

In order to provide an option for e-mailing forms, we are now using Rich Text Format (.rtf) for most forms. You should be able to open them using Word. Forms should contain instructions for e-mailing them, but here are the general instructions:

After completing the form, choose Save as and give it new file name, adding first initial and last name to the original file name (for example, scholarshipkdole.rtf ). Make sure to choose Rich Text Format from the File type list. Attach the file to your e-mail, using the Subject: Delta Kappa Gamma [name of form] and send it to the appropriate committee chairman. You might want to send a follow-up e-mail to make sure she got the form.

NOTE: In order to open and print PDF forms you MUST have
the Adobe Acrobat Reader. If you do not have it, click on the icon on the left, download it and install it. Instructions for Downloading and Installing Adobe Acrobat. Note: If you can't open a file, you may need to update your Adobe Acrobat Reader. You can also do this by clicking on the icon.

Microsoft Internet Explorer browsers version 3.0 and above will download the forms automatically when you click on the icons. You then may launch Adobe Acrobat Reader and open the form.
Netscape will not download the forms to your computer, but it will bring the form up on screen via the Acrobat Reader if you have installed the PDF Viewer in your Netscape Plug-ins folder. The PDF Viewer plug-in is located in the Plug-ins or Web Browser Plug-ins folder (depending on your version) inside the Acrobat Reader folder. You must quit Netscape, move the PDF Viewer plug-in into your Netscape Plug-ins folder and then restart Netscape. When the form comes up onscreen, you can print it out. You also may save the page as a Text file to your computer following the directions in the next paragraph.
If you do not have the PDF Viewer in your Netscape Plug-ins folder, you will get a page of code. Save the page by going to File in your Netscape menu bar, select Save As, select Text as the format, and click on Save. Do NOT change the name of the file. Launch the Acrobat Reader program, go to File in the menu bar, select Open, select the file you saved (e.g., Form2.pdf), click Open. The document will open and you can then print it. Because Acrobat Reader does not have a Save function, you will have to open the document from Acrobat Reader's File menu each time you want to print out a copy of a Text-saved form.
If the form you have downloaded is interactive, you may fill in the information onscreen using the Adobe Acrobat Reader program (version 4.0 strongly recommended) and print out the completed form. You just tab from field to field. Clicking on a check box or radio button will automatically select that item; you do not have to type a character in the boxes or buttons. When you have completed a form, print out as many copies as you may need. Acrobat Reader does NOT save the information once the file is closed.
