Dr. Messenger was a charter member of Alpha Chapter where she served
actively and loyally until her death in 1962.
During her teaching years, Dr. Messenger was prominent in the work
of education associations at all levels, serving on many committees
and as president of the Rock River Division of the Illinois Education
Association.
Much of Lambda State's future was shaped through Dr. Messenger's
guidance as state founder and as first state president, and by her
subsequent service on a number of committees. The first Illinois
Delta Kappa Gamma Scholarship was named in her honor. She was national
parliamentarian and second vice president
