Upsilon Chapter

If anyone would have walked into the fellowship hall of Christ
Baptist Church, in Cold Spring, Kentucky in November, they would have
thought that they were at a festival!  The sisters of the Upsilon
Chapter had a buffet spread across the tables that was truly inviting.
Each member brought a favorite casserole, cake, salad or dessert that
was most palatable, and it left everyone going back for seconds. Karin
Edgington's creamy chicken casserole and Lila Dicken's special vegetable
medley were big hits, as well as all of the other delightful items the
sisters brought, and counting calories  did not seem  to enter the picture.

After President Judy Ihrig brought the meeting to order, old and new
business was presented, and a reminder of our mission, our goals, and
our opportunities for service in 2009 were presented.  Songs were sung,
ideas exchanged, and a reading of our 7 purposes were shared. For the
January meeting, members were challenged to bring a friend to the
meeting with the hope of enticing new members to become a part of our
wonderful society. In addition to bringing a friend to the January
meeting, the members will be bringing winter hats, gloves scarves, and
socks for our personal growth project. It really is "More blessed to
give than to receive," and whenever needy people receive these items,
they are always grateful for our help.

After all the business of the day was conducted, a silent auction
was held to raise monies for several deserving future teachers. From
lovely scarves knitted by Estelle Martin, to new purses, pictures,
books, ornaments and  jewelry,  donated by Mary Barker, Janet Clark,
Lila  Dickens, Justina Graziani,  Judy  Ihrig,  Marylyn Majanesik, Pam
Manker, Karen Martin, Shirley Miller, Beth Mizer, Gina Dodson, Rosalee
Nagel, Priscilla Roberts,  Paula Sinclair, Brenda Staggs, and Chrysteen
Vanover, one would have thought they were at the Trader's World on I-75.
Oh, and Karin Edgington's delightful, creamy homemade peanut butter
fudge, placed in colorful Christmas decanters, went like hotcakes at
Perkin's. Needless to say, everyone in attendance went home with a load
of good memories, a full tummy, and lots of items from the silent auction.
