September 29, 2021 - Gamma Chi Chapter members (from left) Dr. Sylvia Alston, Sheila Robertson, Linda Hall, Shirley White, Kathy Stewart, Beginning Teacher Support Chair Norma Retzlaff and Gail Coleman met at Mariam Boyd Elementary School in Warrenton to assemble goodie bags to welcome the 2020 and 2021 new teachers of Warren County. Thirty-four bags for the new teachers were filled with many useful items and snacks brought by members to their last meeting.

They have given a total of 365 years of service to DKG. From left, Dr. Sylvia Alston (35 years), Crystal Brantley (35 years), Danylu Hundley (35 years), Shirley White (50 years), Jill Coleman (20 years), Loree Harris (20 years) and Sheila Robertson (5 years). Not pictured: Mary Catherine Harris (40 years), Brenda Holloman (40 years), Brenda Fuller (35 years), Paula Aycock (30 years), Laura Kearney (30 years), Karen Paynter (15 years) and Donna Liles (10 years).
 

September 2, 2021 - The 2020 Gamma Chi Rising Star Award was presented to Jenny O’Meara (left) and the 2021 Gamma Chi Rising Star award was presented to Betsy Clark (right). This award is intended to recognize and encourage key women educators with seven or less years of membership in The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International (DKG). These members demonstrate exceptional growth in education, leadership, and contributions consistent with DKG’s vision and purposes. They reflect strong potential for successful leadership at the chapter level and beyond. O’Meara was the chapter’s nominee for the 2021 NC DKG Rising Star Award, and Betsy Clark will be the chapter’s nominee for the 2022 NC DKG Rising Star Award to be presented at the state convention in April 2022.

September 2, 2021 - The 2020 and 2021 Gamma Chi Golden Key Awards were presented to Dr. Sylvia Alston. This award is intended to recognize key women educators who work in the background getting things done without personal glory or gain for herself, and one who is dedicated to fulfilling the purposes of The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International (DKG). Alston was the chapter’s nominee for the 2021 NC DKG Golden Key Award, and she will be the chapter’s nominee for the 2022 NC DKG Golden Key Award to be presented at the state convention in April 2022.
