September 5, 2024 - Awards Committee Member Chris Skinner, left, presented Evelyn Hall with the Gamma Chi Golden Key Award. The Golden Key Award is intended to recognize key women educators who work in the background getting things done without personal glory or gain for herself, and one who is dedicated to fulfilling the purposes of The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International (DKG).
September 5, 2024 - Awards Committee Member Chris Skinner, right, presented Sara Council with the Gamma Chi Risimg Star Award. The Rising Star Award is intended to recognize and encourage key women educators with six or less years of membership in DKG. These members demonstrate exceptional growth in education, leadership, and contributions consistent with DKG’s vision and purposes. They reflect strong potential for successful leadership at the chapter level and beyond.

April 26, 2024 - The NC DKG Convention was held at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel in Durham, NC from April 26-April 28, 2024. Opening night was fun night. Convention Chair Nikki Steckroth, left, was jokingly holding up her nightgown to illustrate that we were supposed to wear after 5:00 clothes to the Saturday night banquet. Membership Chair Tammy Cullom got some laughs wearing her flower covered hat. Friday night consisted of tips from the Membership Committee, bingo, and ended with a dance.

They presented five instrumental numbers playing Irish whistles, an Irish drum, a flute and the piano. Members sang along on the last song, Danny Boy.

March 7, 2024 - NC DKG President Hilda Parlér brought greetings from NC DKG. She emphasized that diversity at all levels is necessary for the survival of the Society. She encouraged the chapter to enhance initiatives to recruit new members, to reinstate former members, to retain active members, and to recognize members for their service and contributions to the work of the Gamma Chi Chapter.

March 7, 2024 - Scholarship Chair Betsy Clark reported on the Scholarship Committee's recommendation to award two grants-in-aid, two scholarships and one professional development grant. These awards will be presented at the May meeting.
