May 15, 2025 - President Sheila Robertson welcomed members and guests to the May meeting.

May 15, 2025 - Members were invited to decorate a flower for use in a later demonstration.

May 15, 2025 - Gail Coleman (right) took up money for the meal and Debra Clayton took up money for the annual dues.

May 15, 2025 - Members signed up for a chance to win a raffle item, and they also brought children books to be distributed at Christmas.

May 15, 2025 - For those unable to attend the NC DKG Convention, convention program books and Ceremony of Remembrance programs were available for perusal. Also, members could turn in their Member Excellence forms for the past year.

May 15, 2025 - Members relaxed while waiting for the meal line to dwindle.

May 15, 2025 - A delicious buffet awaited members.

May 15, 2025 - Tasty lemonaid was one of the drink options.

May 15, 2025 - Members enjoyed visiting with each other while eating.

May 15, 2025 - After dinner President Robertson instructed members to fold down the petals of their flower and then gently float their flower in the dish of water in front of them. Members were surprised to see the petals of their flower open up.

May 15, 2025 - Nancy Blankenship $1,000 Grants-in-Aid presentation: from left to right, Scholarship Chair Betsy Clark, presenter Elaine Blankenship, recipient Macie Fleming, recipient Tiffany Frank, and presenter Richard Blankenship. Fleming is a graduate of Warren Early College where she also received her associate degree from Vance-Granville Community College. She plans to attend East Carolina University to pursue double majors in psychology and elementary education. Frank is a teacher assistant at Mariam Boyd Elementary School. She is attending North Carolina Central University and plans to pursue a career as an elementary teacher or a school psychologist. Nancy Blankenship was a charter member of the Gamma Chi Chapter before her death in 2010. These awards are made possible by the Blankenship family in memory of their mother.

Tunstall and Clayton are members of Gamma Chi Chapter who used the grants to help defray the cost as they represented the chapter at the NC DKG State Convention.

May 15, 2025 - May 15, 2025 - Josephine Myrick Professional Development Grants presentation: from left to right, Scholarship Chair Betsy Clark, presenter Josie Myrick, recipient Sara Council and recipient Diane Colin. Council and Colin are members of Gamma Chi Chapter who used the grants to help defray the cost as they represented the chapter at the NC DKG State Convention. Each year Myrick makes and donates a crocheted afghan for the members to raffle in order to raise money for the Gamma Chi Scholarship Fund. She is an honorary member of the Gamma Chi Chapter.

May 15, 2025 - Shirley H. White $1,000 Grant-in-Aid presentation: from left to right, presenter Debra Clayton, recipient Kelsi Aycock, and Scholarship Chair Betsy Clark. Kelsi Aycock is attending Vance-Granville Community College. Her goal is to become a pre-kindergarten teacher. The Shirley H. White Grant-in-Aid is made possible by donations made in memory of Shirley White, a long-time member of Gamma Chi who passed away last year. The presentation was made by White’s daughter, Debra Clayton.

May 15, 2025 - President Sheila Robertson presented honorary member Josie Myrick with a long stem red rose in recognition of her 99th birthday.

May 15, 2025 - President Sheila Robertson presented member Diane Colin with a NC DKG milestone certificate in recognition of being a member of DKG for ten years.

May 15, 2025 - Dr. Sylvia Alston (right) presented the lucky winner of the afghan raffle, Chris Skinner, with a hand crocheted afghan made by Alston's mother, Josie Myrick.

May 15, 2025 - First Vice President Aimee Cooper, right, presended President Sheila Robertson with a long stem red rose in recognition of her accomplishments in serving her first year as chapter president.

April 26, 2025 - Gamma Chi NC DKG Convention attendees were, from left to right, Nancy Tunstall, President Sheila Robertson, Debra Clayton, Diane Colin and Sara Council. The convention was held in Charlotte, NC.

April 27, 2025 - Pictured above are members of the NC DKG Membership Committee after conducting the Ceremony of Remembrance. As the name of each deceased member was read, a white rose was placed in the vase with the red roses and a tribute page for the deceased member was placed in the Book of Remembrance. Our own Shirley White was remembered during the ceremony.

April 27, 2025 - At the conclusion of the service, NC DKG President Hilda Parlér handed a white rose bud vase to Gamma Chi member Debra Clayton in remembrance of her mother, Shirley White.

April 27, 2025 - At the Birthday Brunch Gamma Chi received the Order of the Rose Award and the Newsletter Excellence Award.

April 27, 2025 - One of the last events of the Birthday Brunch was the passing of the gavel as NC DKG President Hilda Parlér passed the gavel to NC DKG President Elect Janie Webb.

April 27, 2025 - NC DKG President-elect Janie Webb gave her acceptance speech where she announced her theme for the 2025-2027 state biennium: Leading with GRIT - Grace, Responsibility, Integrity and Tenacity.

March 6, 2025 - President Sheila Robertson welcomed members and a guest to our March meeting. With the theme being St. Patrick's Day, she entertained everyone by sharing a list of lucky items and told of their origin.

March 6, 2025 - Members lined up to get their delicious meal prepared by the Littleton group. Lovely St. Patrick's Day decorations adorned the tables.

March 6, 2025 - Members had a choice of four soups, salad, sliders and dessert.

March 6, 2025 - Conversation died down as members enjoyed their meal.

March 6, 2025 - After the meal, member Diane Colin described Irish reel, jigs and hornpipe music. She gave members some tips on how to recognize each one.

March 6, 2025 - After explaining the different types, Diane played three songs on her Irish flute. After each song, she asked members to identify it as a reel, jigs or hornpipe.

March 6 - Guest Jim Hogan regaled us with stories of Ireland and how his grandfather and his grandfather's brothers traveled from Ireland to America passing through Ellis Island on the way.

March 6, 2025 - President Sheila Robertson, center, presented tokens of appreciation to Jim Hogan and Diane Colin for their Irish presentations.

February 2025 - To welcome new music teacher Develle Pierce, left, to Mariam Boyd Elementary School, Beginning Teacher Support Committee Chair Norma Retzlaff, cemter, and Principal Lianndra Davis presented him with Gamma Chi goodie bags.
