September 3, 2026 - Region III Regional Director Sonya Kiser gave an inspiring presentation for our chapter.

September 3, 2026 - President Sheila Robertson, left, presented Sonya with a card stating that the chapter was donating $50 to the NC DKG Education Foundation in her honor and with tokens of appreciation from our chapter.

September 3, 2026 - Eight members were recognized for milestones in membership. Presented with certificates and pins were, from left, Crystal Brantley (40 years), Jill Coleman (25 years), Karen Paynter (20 years), Loree Harris (25 years) and Sheila Richardson (10 years). September 3, 2026 - Fourteen members were recognized for Member Excellence. To achieve this honor, members had to complete activities listed on a form during the past year that measured their attendance, participation in projects, financial contributions, networking and lifelong learning. Dr. Sylvia Alston, Awards Committee chair, presented the following members with certificates and pins. September 3, 2026 - Awards Committee Chair Dr. Sylvia Alston, right, presented the 2026 Gamma Chi Golden Key Award to Danylu Hundley. The Golden Key Award is intended to recognize key women educators who work in the background getting things done without personal glory or gain for herself, and one who is dedicated to fulfilling the purposes of The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International (DKG).

September 3, 2026 - Awards Committee Chair Dr. Sylvia Alston, right, presented the 2026 Gamma Chi Rising Star Award to Earlene Clanton. The Rising Star Award is intended to recognize and encourage key women educators with six or less years of membership in DKG. These members demonstrate exceptional growth in education, leadership, and contributions consistent with DKG’s vision and purposes. They reflect strong potential for successful leadership at the chapter level and beyond.

May 14, 2026 - Richard Blankenship, right, presents the $1,000 Gamma Chi Nancy Blankenship Grants-in-Aid to Macie Fleming and Lucia Edwards who are pursuing degrees in education.

May 14, 2026 - Richard Blankenship, left, presents the Gamma Chi Nancy Blankenship Professional Development Grants to members Norma Retzlaff, Evelyn Hall, Debra Clayton, Sara Council, Gail Coleman, Heather Sharp, and Nancy Tunstall to help defray the cost of attending the NC DKG Convention.

May 14, 2026 - Josephine Myrick, left, presents the $1,000 Gamma Chi Josephine Myrick Scholarship to member Sara Council who is working on her doctorate degree.

May 14, 2026 - Presenter Debra Clayton accepts the $1,000 Gamma Chi Shirley White Grant-in-Aid certificate for Kelsi Aycock who was unable to attend the meeting. Debra will award the certificate to her at a later date.

April 17, 2026 - There was a mountain of bears donated by NC DKG members from around the state for the convention project to support local Emergency Medical Services, Fire and Police Departments and other organizations to distribute to children who experience a crisis or trama situation.

April 19, 2026 - President Sheila Robertson, in her capacity as NC DKG Art & Humanities Liaison, recognized NC DKG members whose artisitic compositions have been accepted into the Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 DKG Art Gallery.
