Summer with Alpha Sigma

Alpha Alpha State: Debi Allebach, Bonnie Lee Barnes, Rose Ann and Stef Fulena, Carol Herbert, Karen Matis, Jean Speight, and Karen Tinstman travelled to Penn State for the Alpha Alpha State Conference in June.  Karen received the Marian Spitzer Roebling Scholarship for new members for the second consecutive year-  to aid in her doctoral studies.  Stef and Roe Fulena presented “Portando l’Italia a voi” a travelogue about their enrichment grant-aided trip to Northern Italy.  They have been invited to several chapters to present their program this coming year.  Carol Herbert was elected to the State Nominations Committee. Alpha Sigma was honored for our Fiftieth Birthday at the Birthday Luncheon.  Deceased members, Norma Neely and Anita Cunningham , were honored at the Celebration of Life Ceremony.

NERC: Bonnie, Roe, Stef, Carol, Jean, and Karen also attended NERC (NorthEast Regional Conference) in Hershey in July.  They were very busy there. Stef and Karen, were members of the NERC Steering Committee.  Stef chaired the Properties Committee, Karen was in charge of all banquet menus, Carol chaired the Book Award Committee.  Roe and Jean were on the Properties Committee, and Bonnie worked with Karen and many other committees.  Stef, Roe, and Jean also presided over several workshops.  We had the opportunity to work with wonderful women from many places. We all thank our chapter for the financial support for both conferences.
