Welcome to the Alpha Chapter website! I think you will find a great deal of information for you to consider that is both current and relevant.
Alpha Chapter, organized at the University of Texas campus on June 3, 1929 by the founders of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society, is still today an association of women educators totally engaged in promoting excellence in education. With approximately half of our members actively working, our goal is to respond to the needs and interests of women in various fields of education including classroom teachers, speech language pathologists, nurses, librarians, teacher trainers and administrators. We encourage scholarship and career advancement through our publications and our programs. Our retired members form a strong support system for teachers by mentoring different aspects of teaching or in leadership roles both at the school level and in the structures of the Society. Alpha members come to our Chapter from Lockhart to Leander and from Round Rock to San Marcos because they find in us a place that is both welcoming and friendly but also challenging and aware.
If you want to learn more about our rich heritage and the women currently making a difference as educators, I invite you to contact me at Elliott.linda132@yahoo.com and I will happily escort you to one of our meetings.
