Jigs and Reels

with Gerry

Fall homecoming. What a party! I could have danced all night! Fall Executive Board was the embodiment of the quote "People who say it cannot be done should not interrupt those who are doing it!" It took some mighty fancy footwork to avoid bumping into all of those who worked so hard to make our dance a success. Everyone...from Area X hostesses who efficiently handled registration to the Clarion Hotel staff who served us warm cookies. The work of the Executive Board was a labor of love, enthusiasm, sharing and helping.

Each Society purpose was accomplished. We were united in genuine spiritual fellowship as we greeted old friends and made new ones.

Barbie Sharrard, Joy Lauderbaugh, Janice Moen and Rose Ann Moore were honored for their service in education through the Delta Kappa Gamma International, Alpha Sigma State, their chapters and communities.

US Forum and Legislative issues reports advanced the professional interests of those who assembled. Scholarship Chairman Billie Hilton and RRPSF Board Chairman Mary Kinder held instructive meetings and encouraged all to apply for and donate to scholarships. Personal and professional growth was enthusiastically stimulated in each of the workshops presented by Music representative Terri Diehm, Membership Chairman Linda Elliott, Research Chairman Sue Ochs, and Program Chariman Janet LeBeau.

Exciting International information was shared by Thelma Fong, International Affairs Chairman and Garrel Lindberg, UN representative. State Treasurer Desta Taylor reported that Alpha Sigma State members donated $865 to the Emergency Fund for hurricane relief and $262.26 to the Educational Foundation "Make a Miracle" Campaign.

Thanks to all for a job well done! If you were unable to attend this dance, we missed you! Please don't be a wallflower--join in and accept the invitation to the next dance.

I have discovered that there are special perks of serving as your State President. Having already attended several chapter meetings and area workshops around Washington State, it truly has been a privilege, a pleasure and an inspiration for me to meet many of you.

You will be extra busy now with the holiday season approaching, but don't forget to put these important dates on your dance card:
