Little Dresses for Africa Project

We are currently working on making dresses for the Little Dresses for Africa project.  Members who wish to participate can download the directions from this link:  Dress directions

If you do not sew, you can still get materials and cut them out for a dress.  The dress directions have instructions on using a pillow case or fabric and patterns for cutting the sleeves.  The patterns are for a small, medium, or large dress.  Also, here are the recommended lengths for the different sizes: Small: 16-22 inches, Medium: 23-28 inches, Large: 24-34 inches, and XLarge: 35 or more inches.

Bring your cut/pressed supplies in a bag to the next meeting (April  9th) and a member who sews will finish the dress.  If you have any questions, please contact Sue Vogel at
sjvogelstar5@gmail.com

Elementary School Volunteers

As another one of our service projects, we are supporting early educators and reading in primary grades by volunteering at two local schools,  Grant Wood and Pierce.

Members who are interested in volunteering at one or both of these schools may fill out a volunteer application and drop the application off at the appropriate school. The school addresses are:

Grant Wood Elementary
645 26th St. SE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52403
(send forms in care of the volunteer coordinator, Jackie Bergquist.)

Pierce Elementary
4343 Marilyn Dr. NE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52402
(send forms in care of the volunteer coordinator, Brooke Baker.)
If you decide to volunteer at one of these schools, please notify Ann Nicholson (anicholson2869@gmail.com) so that the Theta chapter can keep track of our volunteer projects.
