2016 District 3 Coordinator Report

District 3 began the fall with some sadness. Alpha Sigma dissolved their chapter.  It was with heavy hearts that the decision was made. The two remaining chapters, in Eugene, opened their doors and welcomed those who choose to transfer their membership. Also on a sad note Lane Coordinating Counsel, the last Coordinating Counsel in the state, decided to disband. With only two chapters, it was felt it would not be difficult to keep in contact and plan shared events.

Good things are happening in the district. Sigma Chapter made local news with their Care Bag Project. In June they will hold their annual plant sale. Kappa had their annual action/brunch, which was a great success and the proceeds will go to fund scholarships. Lambda has been busy fund-raising for their grant and clothing children enrolled in Head Start. Gamma supported Pearl Buck by giving all graduating kindergartners a bag of 11 books. 80 welcome to the Springfield School District bags were hand out on the district’s New Teacher Orientation Day. They also support the Camas Mills School Project, a hands-on learning event for school age children.

All District Chapters continue being busy with chapter meetings, joint chapter meetings, garage sales, mentoring new teachers, volunteering in the classrooms, welcoming new members and saying good-bye to those who passed.

All in all it has been a very productive year for District 3 chapters.

I am missing convention this year due to a reunion of my sisters, but hope each and every one of you has a GREAT time in Pendleton.
