2016 Educational Excellence Committee Report

The Educational Excellence Committee is an umbrella committee, which encompasses many state activities. The committee includes Leadership, Legislation, and Grants. It includes the Unique Boutique, the U.S. Forum and the United Nations. It is also our pleasure to encourage chapters with their Strategic Action Plans and their BEAR literacy projects. Our committee members have given presentations or led training sessions at each state convention and fall leadership meeting.

A main focus this biennium has been to encourage every chapter to look at the EEC international goals and plan programs and projects around Empowering women through leadership opportunities, Promoting Excellence in Education through programs and projects, and Changing global awareness through collaboration worldwide.

Each chapter was encouraged to give PDUs—Professional Development Units—for each meeting/program that meets the TSPC criteria. PDU forms were handed out in September; they are available on our Alpha Rho State website and on the TSPC website. Chapters may also create their own PDU forms. Professional development is a great recruiting tool.

A few facts - 13 Alpha Rho members attended the U.S. Forum Session in Regina. We just completed our National Legislative Seminar in Washington, D. C. 73 members attended with 6 from the NW (2 MN, 2 WA,, 1 AK and myself). Topics were human trafficking, bullying and cyber bullying, high stakes testing/ESSA, pay equity for women, and gun violence/mental health.

Enjoy the conference, and enjoy the wonderful speakers and workshops!

It has been our honor to serve on a committee that encourages such wonderful work throughout our state,
