2016 Financial Awards Committee Report

The purpose of the State Financial Awards Committee is to manage both the Scholarship applications and the grant applications of students earning initial teaching licenses.

The State Financial Awards Committee met with Jill Lang at the State Leadership Transition Meeting in June 2015 to receive all materials, which had been expertly organized to make the transition a smooth one.

There was one application submitted in August of 2015. The committee met to consider the application.
Result:
One State Founders and Presidents Award for $2000 was granted.

No applications were submitted for the December 1 deadline.

Three applications were submitted by the March 1, 2016 deadline. The committee again met to consider these applications.
Results:
One Personal Enrichment/ Commemorative was granted for $1500.
Two Isabella Huston Commemorative Awards were granted for $1500 each, for a total of $3000. These two were granted for advancing educational excellence with the intention of extending personal growth through leadership.

We will also be presenting a workshop at conference encouraging more members to submit applications for State, International, and the DKG Educational Foundation Awards.

There were no applications for financial assistance from the following scholarship and grant funds: Emma Henkle, Hazel Fishwood, Jeppeson Grant-in-Aid and Edith Green Grant-in-Aid.

The August award was mailed, to be presented at a chapter meeting. The three March awards will be presented to the recipients at the Pendleton Conference, April 2016.
