The DKG Iota Chapter initiates five new members October 2017

On Monday, September 11, 2017, DKG Iota Chapter assembled 25 bags of classroom supplies and treats, as part of their annual service project to support new women educators!
Two new members were inducted at the October, 2016 meeting.

On September 12, 2016, DKG Iota Chapter met at the Little Restaurant on the Corner to prepare gift bags for new teachers.
On September 2, 2016, the 2016 DKG Iota Chapter Scholars were recognized at the University of Arkansas Scholarship Benefactors Luncheon at the Town Center in Fayetteville.

On February 9, 2016, Cox Communications awarded a $650.00 grant to support DKG Iota Chapter Engineering Awareness Program for 5th Grade Girls. Cox has sponsored the project for four out of the five years it has been in operation. Dr. Margaret Clark, Dr. Diana Gonzales Worthen, and Mrs. Heidi Cohen, DKG Iota Chapter members who spearheaded the program 5 years ago, presented Whitney Yoder, AR Public Relations Manager for Cox Communications, with a collage of the 5th grade girls.

snacks, and gifts that were delivered to new teachers in Northwest Arkansas.
On Monday, May 4, 2015, Iota Chapter initiated five new outstanding women educators.

On February 2, 2015, Carolyn Brooks and Billie Sue Yates hosted the Iota Chapter Program, "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? Valentine's Day Edition," which included entertaining questions and answers about the holiday from an elementary school social studies textbook. $97.00 was raised at the monthly raffle.
On December 1, 2014, the DKG Iota Chapter raised $1,110.50 at the 2nd Annual Holiday Scholarship Auction Fundraiser held at the AQ Chicken House in Fayetteville, AR. Hand-embroidered gifts, theme baskets, and homemade treats were among the 60 items donated by members.
On Monday, Sept 8, 2014, Iota Chapter met at the Springdale Public Library to assemble gift bags with teacher supplies as a September SEE (Supporting Early Career Educators) Service Project, a DKG initiative. At the September meeting, $73.00 was raised to donate to the DKG Schools for Africa Project in honor of Candace Martin, Kappa State President, who was the inspiring guest speaker for the evening.

Engineering Awareness Program: A STEM Initiative for 5th Grade Girls
On Saturday, May 3, 2014, the University of Arkansas Women in Engineering students provided an instructional program and tour of the Engineering Department classrooms for elementary and middle school girls from the Springdale Public Schools. The STEM Project is a DKG Iota Chapter-U of A partnership program that is funded by Cox Communictions.

Live Auction December 2, 2013
DKG Iota Chapter raised $992.00 for scholarships at a Holiday Live Auction Fundraiser held on Monday, December 2, 2013, at Western Sizzlin in Springdale. Handcrafted gifts and homeade foods were among the many items donated.

In the Spring of 2013, The Iota Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International held a "Recognition of Key Women Educators in Arts" Scholarship Fundraiser at The John Q. Hammons Convention Center/Embassy Suites in Rogers, Arkansas. In addition to the 5 award presentations, the program included a performance by local students, book signings, student artwork display, a silent auction, and a delicious brunch. Over $1,000.00 was raised to support scholarships for 3 graduate students who are entering the field of education.

Iota Chapter of DKG Honors Senator Madison and Initiates 2 Members
On Monday, May 14, 2012 at the Clarion Inn in Fayetteville, the Delta Kappa Gamma (DKG) Society International, Iota Chapter, honored Senator Sue Madison by making her an honorary member of the chapter. This honor was bestowed upon her based on her legislative work on behalf of women and in support of the improvement of education in general. Two new members were initiated into the chapter, Sharon Krueger, and ESOL teacher at Northside Elementary School in Rogers, and Catie Paul, a French teacher at both Ramay and Woodland Jr. H. S.'s in Fayetteville.
DKG promotes professional and personal growth of women educators and excellence in education. This year, the Iota Chapter sponsored its fourth annual fundraiser, "Recognition of Key Women Educators in the Arts," during Women's History month; collaborated with the College of Engineering and Springdale High School's Engineering Academy to implement an "Engineering Awareness" project this Spring semester, a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) initiative, for fifth grade girls in Springdale; and just awarded three scholarships to women students at the University of Arkansas pursuing studies to become teachers.
