The Initiation Meeting (November 3, 2012), an event which included all 5 chapters in the Big Bend, was held at Rickards High School, and was beautifully coordinated by the chapter presidents. WELCOME Nancy Watson, our new member. We are so proud to have you join our chapter. Sandy Byars, the District I Director and the speaker, talked about the meaning of membership. The raffle netted $154.00 which will go toward scholarships.
Our fall workshop (August, 2012) was very productive. Members stuffed tote bags with school supplies for teachers at Apalachee Elementary School. We hope they have a successful school year. Thanks so much to Gale Workman for providing the lovely facility at FAMU and for all her work in getting the tote project organized.
At The Founder's Day Luncheon for the Big Bend Chapters, Alpha Kappa Chapter presented a play, honoring the founders of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International. The society was founded by Dr. Annie Webb Blanton along with 11 other women on May 11, 1929 in Austin, Texas. Dr. Blanton was fond of hats as represented by our skit participants pictured below.
