Alpha Kappa Chapter Minutes
CHAPTER MINUTES - Meeting October 11, 2008
Members present: Betty Niedoroda, Judy O'Steen, Connie Lewis, Missy Jungling, Janice McClung, Sally Roberts, Ginny Densmore, Susan Vinson, Joy Moore, Gale Workman, Leonora Lawrence, Susan Womble, Anne Black, Nedra Tharpe, Cecilia Hack, Rhonda Work, and Teresa Horn
After the Blessing and enjoying breakfast, the meeting was called to order at 10:10 A.M.
Approval of Minutes: Gail Workman approved the minutes, and they were seconded by Judy O'Steen. There was a discussion about some people not being able to open the minutes in the e-mail sent out. We will work on this not happening in the future.
New Business:
Review of Membership Applications:
- No new applications were brought to this meeting so we will just have the two new initiates voted on at the September meeting. Connie Lewis will update name tags for new members.
- Rose pins were passed out to Anne Black, Ginny Densmore, Cecilia Hack, Janice McClung, Betty Niedoroda., and Rhonda Work for attending all chapter meetings last year.
Initiation Ceremony Responsibilities:
- The initiation ceremony will be held at the new school in Wakulla Co. on Sunday, November 9 from 3-5 P.M.
- Missy, Rhonda, Teresa, and Janice each volunteered to bring cookies.
- Kay Collins, principal of Nims Middle School, will be the guest speaker.
- A "thank you gift" has already been purchased
for Ms. Collins.
Volunteers Needed:
- Connie Lewis will up-date the yearbook. Membership and By-laws have already been done. Connie will have the up-dated yearbook ready for the January meeting.
- Judy O'Steen volunteered to serve as
Parliamentarian.
Treasurer's Report:
- If you have not paid your yearly dues of $85, please do so by October 31.
- Our total income of $2465.23 is looking healthy, but on November 10th the International dues will be paid out of this bringing out cash balance down to the $300 range again.
- Nonprofit organizations with balances less that
$55 must register with the IRS. Rhonda has taken care of this and Alpha
Kappa chapter has been approved.
Corresponding Secretary's Report: None
Newsworthy Items:
- Cookbooks are still available for $15.
- Susan Womble left early for a book signing at Barnes and Noble for her new book Newt's World: Beginnings. She also had books available at our meeting for anyone interested in purchasing one.
- Ann Levy is having hip replacement surgery in November.
- Don't forget to provide J. McClung, C. Lewis and International with any address changes.
- Janice read communications from 11 other
members who were not able to be present. This included a note from
Sandra Rackley who submitted her resignation.
Fall Friendship Time: Everyone attending the meeting said a few words about themselves. It was a very enjoyable hour of friendship time. We learned a lot about each other. It was recommended that we do this once a year.
