Happy Fall Everyone!

This has to be my favorite time of the year. There's so much to look forward to! If you're a sports enthusiast you look forward to cheering for your favorite team. If you're a Halloween fanatic, you look forward to finding that special ghost or goblin to place in your yard to spook the little trick-or-treaters. If you're a winter holiday sort of person, you can't wait to place your special mementos in every nook and cranny in your home. If you're a current or retired educator you look forward to sharing your spirit in, and out, of the classroom. What a great season!

As an Alpha Kappa chapter member we look forward to our next meeting and the opportunity to share our vision and spirit with one another. Please mark your calendars for our meeting on October 1st and don't forget to submit your recommendations for membership! Our chapter looks forward to initiating at least 5 key women educators so we need your recommendations!

I look forward to seeing you soon and learning new information shared during our program hosted by the Professional Affairs committee.

Smiles,
Janice

Looking Back...

We missed seeing a number of our chapter members at the August meeting. Please make a concerted effort to attend the October meeting.

Looking Ahead…

The Professional Affairs Committee will provide the program for our next meeting. Joy Moore will provide a brief overview of Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). She will share information about services offered through the Florida State University's Center for Autism and Related Disabilities and the Florida State University First Words Project. In addition, she will discuss current diagnosis and intervention practices.

We look forward to reviewing a number of recommendations for membership. Please consider recommending someone you know who demonstrates the qualities of key women educators. It is such an honor to be recommended and initiated into Delta Kappa Gamma. We strive to support the mission of the association.

Rhonda Work, our treasurer, continues to accept each member's annual dues of $85.00. Rhonda can accept payments until the end of October; however, she can rest a bit better if she's able to complete her job prior to the absolute deadline!

The Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk is scheduled for October 25th. Rhonda graciously agreed to be the contact person for our chapter and is organizing our members to participate in this year's event. Please read Rhonda's email message concerning the event. If you have any questions, or would like her help registering for the walk, please email or call her.

Mark your calendars for our Initiation Ceremony. It will be held in one of the meeting rooms at Westminster Oaks on Sunday, November 8th, from 2:30 p.m.- 5:00 p.m..

If you have any questions, ideas, news, please don't hesitate to contact one of your chapter's officers. They include:

Janice McClung, President
Susan Vinson, Vice President
Missy Jungling, President Elect
Rhonda Work, Treasurer
Cecilia Hack, Corresponding Secretary
Teresa Horn, Recording Secretary
