October 1, 2010 - Newsletter #3

Lots of Birthday celebrations this month: 10-2 Betty Niedoroda, 10-9 Beverly Robinson, 10-15 Ann Levy, 10-22 Susan Womble, 10-24 Marvel Lou Sandon, and 10-28 Nedra Tharpe. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ya'll.

I was able to go to the Fall Workshop in Orlando. It was a very informative conference. A couple of major changes were announced:

1. An end to the required 3 years of teaching experience for the nomination of an educator to Delta Kappa Gamma

2. There is no longer the limiting factor of not more than 3 years of retirement for prospective members.

The emphasis is still on excellent women educators.

Another huge announcement at the conference was that Dr. Beverly Helms of Mu State FL was named 2nd Vice-President of Delta Kappa Gamma International. A spectacular honor!

This Tuesday, October 5th, will be our next meeting at Killearn United Methodist Church at 7 P.M. We will initiate our newest member Dr. Alice-Ann Darrow, have refreshments, a very short program, two announcements, and the dividing up of the tubs with the totes for the beginning teachers. Those who took home the tubs, it is imperative that you bring them to this meeting!!!!

Refreshments will be supplied by Membership and Personal Growth committees.

I am sad to report that Dana Wilson ask to be released from membership in Alpha Kappa at this time. She will be missed.

Two of our faithful members, Leonora Lawrence and Cecilia Hack, have had serious medical problems. They both need to be lifted up in our prayers. I am sure that cards will be welcomed.

With warm regards,

Missy
