What: Our next meeting, Monday, February 11, 2008 at 6:15 p.m.         for dinner

Where: Missy Jungling's house, 3490 Colonnade Dr.

Program: The World Affairs Committee, Initiation, and
         Introduction to A Community Leader in Music and the Arts

         Sherrill Ragans,Ida Manning, Sonja Darden, and
         Betty Niedoroda


HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY! The chapter officers will provide the meal and Missy will demonstrate in her kitchen how to make Danish pastries.

This meeting focuses on the following:

  • our fifteen Delta Kappa Gamma countries and the work of Delta Kappa Gamma in the United Nations. One country we focus on is Norway. Our Alpha Kappa Hall of Fame member, Sherrill Ragans, with others, will present information about Norway. This unique country will host the 2009 International Delta Kappa Gamma convention there in August, 2009.
  • an active community leader, Mrs. Joan West, will tell us about the numerous opportunities in music and art in the Leon community.
  • a simple initiation ceremony for two new members, Kim Brock and Dana Wilson.
Calendar Events:

February 9 is Legislative Day. It will be from 10:00 - 11:30 a.m. at the Wakulla County School Board District Office.

The District I Meeting of Delta Kappa Gamma will be held, March 8 at Leon High School beginning at 8:30 a.m. and lasting through lunch. Nine members of Alpha Kappa will be facilitators. Janice McClung is chairperson for the bulletin board display.

We will also be preparing a basket with the theme American Beauty of Mu State. If you have a nice basket or a gift, i.e., body lotion, hand creams, chocolates, that you would like to include in the basket, please bring it to the Feb 11th meeting. A $25.00 registration is charged which includes lunch. If you are interested in attending, please send your registration fee to Rhonda Work this week. If you wait, you will have to pay a higher registration amount.

Personal News: Joann Arnett is off to South America and Gale Workman is traveling to Vienna in March.

Roses go to. . . members of the Big Bend Coordinating Council who meet several Saturdays a year to plan Initiation, Legislative Day, Founders' Day, and handle other business. The president of each chapter attends, and there are two additional presiding officers.
