About Us ...
Our Mission: The Delta kappa Gamma Society International promotes professional and personal growth for women educators and excellence in education.
Our Vision: Leading Women Educators Impacting Education Worldwide
Currently more than 2,000 Indiana women teachers proudly claim membership in and strive to uphold the ideals of the Society. Membership is by invitation, and 68 chapters offer Hoosier sisters the largest, most active educational force available to women. Internationally, the Society has benefited women teachers and education throughout the world for 80 years.
But the Society isn't only about helping others; it's about personal help for you as a member. Opportunities for leadership development, travel, advancement, and networking add to the positive feelings of belonging to a sisterhood. Certainly your world will expand through membership in DKG, and your sisters will step up to help you in an emergency.
Alpha Epsilon State invites you to browse our site, where members can keep current and others can determine whether the valuable work and the sisterhood of women teachers offer the link not found elsewhere in education. Alpha Epsilon State and her local chapters offer continuing educational opportunities, a voice in difficult legislative issues, and CRU/CEU credit for most sponsored workshops.
The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, often referred to as DKG, and Alpha Epsilon State offer information, sisterhood, and professional help to its member women teachers. Most chapter organizations work to offer grant money to women currently trying to educate themselves to enter the field of education. Funds are also available for classroom projects or special training needed or desired by member teachers. No other organization can claim the spirit or the success of DKG, who changes and restructures constantly to meet the needs of today's women teachers.
DKG does not choose political sides but does help members remain aware of issues involving education. Information regarding such issues is often collected and used to help legislators realize true problems that teachers face as well as future possible impact of proposed legislation.
You are invited to follow the links above to review the Seven Purposes of the Society, the reasons behind our symbols, the history of our State Organization, and a roster of our past state presidents.
