In June of 1995 Delta Kappa Gamma Society International was granted Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) status with the Department of Public Information at the UN (UN/DPI). Anne-Marie Carlson was appointed as Delta Kappa Gamma's first primary representative. DKG’s work at the UN demonstrates the organization’s connection to our seventh purpose, "To inform members of current economic, social, political, and educational issues so that they may participate effectively in a world society."

The Committee on Teaching About the United Nations (CTAUN), formed in 1966, includes a group of members of various NGOs that are interested in education. CTAUN conferences have been held every year since 1999. This year's CTAUNconference was held on Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at the UN headquarters in New York City.

At the 2010 International Convention, Delta Kappa Gamma adopted a new project in conjunction with UNICEF. Schools for Africa: Transforming Lives through Education is a joint campaign founded by UNICEF, the Nelson Mandela Foundation and the Hamburg Society to promote education for children in Africa. The campaign will increase access to quality basic education for children with a special focus on girls, orphans and vulnerable children. –– from the UNICEF brochure.
