AKS Awards

Alpha Kappa State Achievement Award

The Alpha Kappa State Achievement Award honors Delta Kappa Gamma members who have made significant contributions to chapter, state and international activities. The award consists of a high quality pendant and an appropriately worded and framed certificate.

No more than three members shall be honored each biennium. This honor takes place at the Spring Convention in odd-numbered years. Members nominated in previous years but not honored may have their names resubmitted. A deceased member may be considered to be honored posthumously; in that event, chapter and family members would receive the award.

Achievement Award Procedure and Nomination Form:

  • A member may be nominated by a chapter or an individual.
  • Signatures of three members must be presented to the chapter for endorsement.
  • When nominated by a chapter, a simple majority of those present will be required.
  • The nominating chapter will seek endorsements from at least two additional chapters.
  • The nomination form must be postmarked no later than January 1 in odd-numbered years.

Qualifications:

  • Significant contribution to Delta Kappa Gamma (Chapter, State, and International)
  • Active in Chapter for at least ten years
  • Active in Alpha Kappa State
  • Has held a state office or has been a state committee chair
  • Attends some, but not necessarily all, Regional and International conventions

Alpha Kappa Outstanding Service Award

Alpha Kappa State Outstanding Service Awards are presented to outstanding community volunteers who, without thought of recompense, devote time, energy, and caring attention to the children and youth of Connecticut. Recipients are not members of Delta Kappa Gamma. Undoubtedly, many worthy candidates within Connecticut's individual communities deserve the recognition and honor of our Outstanding Service Awards. These awards are given at the Spring Convention in even-numbered years.
